In the face of a high unemployment rate, one of the most difficult challenges, Liberians have shown remarkable resilience. Since Liberia's first post-civil war democratically elected government in 2006, the unemployment rate has been a pressing issue. Despite this, many Liberians are finding innovative ways to support their families, such as selling locally produced products. However, due to financial constraints, there are limited buyers for these low-cost products in the market.
It is crucial that we explore different strategies and approaches to address Liberia's leading unemployment problem. This includes seeking innovative ideas from Liberians abroad. The recent audits have revealed a significant waste of resources that could have been used to address several problems, including unemployment, over the years. Urgent action is needed to rectify this situation.
The people of Liberia are determined to improve their lives. They would welcome the ideas and voices of Liberians abroad to encourage Liberian leaders to be creative in addressing the nation's unemployment issue. One such creative solution could be giving contracts to Liberians who are not employed by the government or related to government employees to create jobs throughout the country. However, for this to be a reality and practical, lawmakers and other senior executive officials must accept the reduction of their salaries and benefits to support this initiative.

Dr. Moses Kulo,
I was in Liberia from July 2024 to August 2024, visiting relatives and friends while assessing the country's progress and challenges. Please accept my apology for not alerting our readers of my inability to update the website while in Liberia.
In the coming weeks, you will delve deeper into Liberia's current state, particularly around its capital.
It's worth noting that despite facing significant economic challenges, Liberians continue to uphold their reputation as some of the friendliest people in West Africa. Their remarkable kindness, care, respect, and love for each other and other nationalities are genuinely inspiring. Their higher tolerance suggests a readiness to address their social, economic, and political issues through democratic means, a testament to their resilience in the face of adversity.
One of the most urgent issues Liberia is currently addressing is the necessity to unite all its citizens to champion transparency and accountability. It's crucial to recognize that the nation's resources are finite, and it's unsustainable for government officials to operate without supervision. The reluctance of some former officials to undergo audits is a significant obstacle to the country's economic development and financial stability. Regardless of political party affiliations, your support for the current administration's initiative to audit all ministries and agencies is crucial and can make a significant difference.
